Rolled Asphalt Roofing
Roll roofing is the cheapest covering you can nail down and the shortest lived, which makes it right for a shed and wrong for anything you care about.
What It Is
A wide roll of the same material shingles are made from, lapped and nailed. Fast and inexpensive. The lap is the weakness and it is a long continuous one.
Where It Wins
- By far the cheapest material here
- One person can put it on a shed in an afternoon
Where It Does Not
- Five to ten years, and less in full sun
- Exposed nails through the laps on the common installation
- It will make a house look neglected
In the Quad Cities
For a garden shed or a chicken coop, fine. We will not put it on a house, and if a bidder suggests it for your porch, get another bid.
