Roofing Materials
Corrugated Metal Roofing
Corrugated metal screws down through the face of the panel, which makes it much cheaper than standing seam and puts a rubber washer between you and a leak.
What It Is
Ribbed panels fastened straight through into the purlins or the deck, with a neoprene washer under each screw head. It is the roof on most farm buildings in Scott County and it has earned that position.
Where It Wins
- Around half the price of standing seam
- Fast to install over a large simple roof
- Very long life on a shed, barn, shop or garage
Where It Does Not
- Every screw is a potential leak once the washer hardens
- Washers need checking around year fifteen and replacing around year twenty five
- Panel ends and exposed fasteners look agricultural on a house
In the Quad Cities
Excellent on outbuildings and shops, and a real option on a rural house out toward Walcott or Donahue. On a house in town it will look like what it is.
